Pulled Pork Sliders with MEATER

Sun’s Out, Buns Out!

Time to take parties to the next level with the ULTIMATE party snack that will make your guests beg for more. No more pizzas, no more chips. It’s pulled pork sliders time. 😎

Ingredients:

  • Pork shoulder/butt
  • Traeger Pork & Poultry Rub (apple | honey)
  • 1 ½ cup BBQ sauce
  • ½ purple cabbage, julienned
  • ½ carrot, julienned
  • ½ green apple, julienned
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • ½ cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • ½ cup of pickled red onions
  • 12 brioche slider buns
  • 24 pickles
  • 12 toothpicks
  • Salt and pepper

Equipment:

  • MEATER Plus
  • Smoker or oven
  • Roasting pan

Doneness:

  • 205°F – Fall apart

Serving size:

  • 12 hungry party animals

Total Time:

  • 4-5 hours

Instructions:

1. First things first, preheat your smoker to 300°F. While that’s warming up, pat down the pork with a paper towel to help dry out any excess moisture. We promise, the pork won’t be dry by the end of the cook. 😉 Once the meat is mostly dry, trim off any excess fat and evenly season the pork with salt, pepper, and Traeger Pork & Poultry Rub (or any rub of your choice).

2. Now, place the pork onto a roasting pan and fill the pan with water till it’s about half full. Then, insert the probe into the center of the thickest part of the pork. Be sure the probe is inserted past the safety notch line to avoid any damage to the internal sensor!

3. Then, cover the pork with foil. Poke a hole through the foil so that the probe can stick out, and you don’t lose connection mid-cook! Now, set up the cook in the app with a target internal temperature of 205°F for that tender, shred-ready deliciousness. 🤩  Once the cook is all set up, place the pork in the smoker, and expect to not see it for at least 4 hours. Before you close the app, set up a custom alert for 10 minutes before the cook ends! You’ll see why. 😉

4. While MEATER is monitoring the pork cook, it’s time to prepare the coleslaw! Grab a bowl and mix together purple cabbage, carrots, green apple, mayo, dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper. Once that’s done, set it aside in the fridge, watch some TV, play some football, or do some yoga until MEATER tells you it’s time to remove the pork from heat. In the last 10 minutes of the cook, remove the foil from the pork.

5. Once you remove the pork from heat, let it rest for however long MEATER says. In the meantime, move on over to the sliders! Get the brioche buns out, cut them in half, and toast them on the smoker to your liking. Don’t forget about them!

6. Once the pork is done resting, it’s time to shred! Carefully use your hands, fork, or a meat shredder and rip ‘err up! Throw the shredded pork into a bowl, add some BBQ sauce and mix.

7. Add the pulled pork, coleslaw, and pickled onions onto the sliders and top off with the other side of the bun.

8. Top each bun with a pickle and a toothpick, and voila! You’ve got yourself some delicious pulled pork sliders. 🤤
